Careers as A Physical Therapist Assistant

Physical Therapist Assistant is a terminal degree to work in the field.  However, there are  Bachelor degrees in Physical Therapist Assistant as well as health and wellness.    There are bridging programs to the Doctor of Physical Therapy Programs (limited) as well.  A degree from PPCC may also be your first step toward earning the advanced degrees necessary for career as Physical Therapist Assistant.

Career Earnings Outlook

According to 2019 data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average annual salary for physical therapist assistants is $58,520 per year ($28.14 per hour). Salaries can vary based on location, education, and experience. This average is not entry level – recent graduates will need to earn experience and work their way up to earn a higher salary.

Jobs outlook

The overall employment of PTAs is expected to grow 26% from 2018-2028, much faster than the average U.S. occupation (Bureau of Labor Statistics). The need for more PTA jobs is due in part to an aging population and a greater need for physical therapy care.
